Engineering --- trying to get serious

So you may have noticed that I am a COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE at doing anything of merit with the Engineering department. I have a vague list of projects, but absolutely no organization at all in the whole year I've had to get organized. That is inexcuasable in my book.

So in this post I want to address three things, because three is a good number: meeting, tasks, and what we are.

1. Engineering Meeting:
I know I promised this MONTHS ago, but I am a total failure who fails so it never materialized. I just didn't know what to do. But it's become clear now that we need to start feeling like a cohesive unit. To that effect, a meeting log will definitely be posted on Sunday, July 18th. I wish it could be sooner, but I'll be away on vacation next Thursday-Saturday and I wouldn't get it done before I leave if I waited any later than today to post.

At the meeting, all members and prospective members will be invited to meet each other, discuss project ideas, compile research, and argue things out.

2. Duties and Projects
This will be discussed ICly at the meeting, but OOCly I need to know what to do. As of right now, our crew mostly builds and repairs guns and robots. There would have been a group for larger mecha repair, but I think that's taken over by Rogue Squadron now. I also thought about building defense items like shields and containment fields, but that looks like it's being taken over by the Science Department.

There's a plot to (fail to) take out GLaDOS in the works, and I guess we could help, but I think the AI-experienced types are Science Department now. Jut let us know if there's anything that can be done.

3. What We Are
I find myself forgetting what the Engineering Department actually is and does, and I'm sure I'm not the only one with how quiet we've been. So I need to establish again what it actually does.

-Build weapons and armor
-Repair said weapons and armor
-Train interested people to do the first two things

That's all I have. I think repairing Stacy, repairing vehicles, and testing things all fall under different jurisdictions now. Is that it, or is there more I'm forgetting?

Finally, a skillset diversity survey:
(blatantly and lovingly copied from Gwen's player)
I'm sorry again for the failure, everyone. If you have a character in the department, please fill this survey out? I need to get a member list going, and perhaps from there we can think of things for our group to suggest at the meeting and do!

Thank you! Comments, questions, and ideas? Feel free to post them here.

Kuroi's not online right now, so we'll have to talk to her, but I would be fine with mechanics becoming a subset of engineering, instead of something officially affiliated with the rogues. If we could do something that kept Wyn as the chief mechanic though?

Seconding the thought that mechanics from rogue squadron should go under engineering. I think it spreads the love a little bit, haha.

Also that way, a character not in RS could contact them to help with repairs on their personal vessel. Anyone want to help add more lasers to Samus' ship?

Also going to fill out the survey now o7

Repeating what I said re: the Science department... Do you mind if the Doctor's auxiliary to Engineering and sort of bounces between departments whenever he's needed/he feels like it? Trying to keep him in one department is kind of a lost cause, but he really does want to help!

(...except with the guns. He's all frownyface about those, but he'd be happy to build some cool nonlethal weapons and stuff!)

Seconded with Five, who gives many frownyfaces to weapons but would enjoy using his jiggery-pokery skills for the betterment of ship living. Also he promised Jamie that he would look into it, so.
