trans_pilgrims | Calling all spies!

So, Shaela and I have been working on doing spy stuff with Kang and Marco, and we’re wondering if anyone would be interested in joining up a small spy network. Basically, how this would work is that Kang would be at the head of it – essentially directing the spies to where they need to go. He’d be the one to decide who to approach, and talk to them about joining up. (Although if we get enough people, he might appoint someone else as head and give orders to them)

Kang will also be letting Leon know that he’s got the beginnings of a spy network, but he won’t be saying who is in it (Possibly this could lead to some overlap with the Strike Team, depending on what people want to do).

As for what they’d do! It wouldn’t necessarily be spying-on-fellow-crewmembers stuff (and even then, that’d probably be just suspicious individuals and whatnot). A lot of would be like for missions, and gathering intel and that sort of thing.

So yes! Basically we’re interested in finding out if anyone might want to be involved in something like this. (Just keep in mind that potentials will be spied on themselves before being approached. And that we’d need to find ways for Kang - or one of the current spies – to realise that they might be suited for spy work in the first place.)

Anyway, as I said in chat, if it's just espionage count Sofia in. Somebody can find out somehow that she can use her powers to eavesdrop and go "hey baby, how about working for me?"

Anyways, neither Kang nor Marco know her, so we would need to engineer that. Does she ever use her eavesdropping abilities on the ship? Perhaps Marco could catch her while in morph sometime.

She doesn't hesitate to use her powers. So she could just head on over to somebody and start joining in on the conversation, making them go "Wait what? How do you know we were talking about that?" Especially if they were talking about prom or something.

Awesome - that could at least work as a trigger that makes them go, "this is someone we should check out". Then they could just decide to approach her after spying on her for a little while.

Currently, Marco's running surveillance on the Lensmen, so unless she does this right in front of them he won't be able to spot any unusual activity with Sophia until after they're gone. BUT we can plan something out after the plot?

Although they might not want her, which is fine. Or they can go "Hm, someone with lots of social ties and is persistent. Maybe we could use this one. MWAHAHA." Only without the mwahaha...

Admittedly I know nothing about Sofia, so I don't know what Marco will think of her yet. And it's entirely possible that Kang (or whoever he hands this over to, if that happens) could be...well, selective about where they send her?

Sofia’s been described in the comics as “passion personified.” Her emotions, positive and negative, are strong. She tries to suppress her anger, which seldom works, and focus on being happy and friendly. She’s also determined. If she thinks she can do something then she will not give up until it happens.

After losing her powers (and a lot of her friends) she is more cynical and less idealistic. But in the end she’s still the same person and while she’ll start off in game as jaded she’ll work her way back to being the optimist she was before. After all, nothing stops this girl.

Sofia has a way of inspiring and connecting with those around her, even the extremely withdrawn. She tries to see the good in everyone.

I can fill you in on more later if you want. Really, I want her to get using her powers more. She's got so much untapped potential. (I mean dude, girl could suck the air out of someone's lungs if she really wanted to.)

It does look like she could work though? I mean, people-skills can get info out of people too :P

And anyways, we can always see how it goes. Have Marco follow her for a while, and if she doesn't do anything that says "I would fail as a spy!", have Kang approach her.

Nah, this is her. She's been in for a while, I just haven't been very active with her. She's planning space prom. Which I'll work on once school is over ><

But yeah, I just pulled up her app because I saved it to my RPG folder.

Ah, I see. I couldn't seem to find her on the Character page, hence why I thought she might be new. (Is she on there under a different name?)

Derp, I should give you her powers.

Sofia is a mutant who can manipulate the wind. She can fly, move objects (she has some fine control but is mostly a powerhouse. Don’t expect her to play jenga, just put the pieces back together). She can also eavesdrop by carrying the sound through the air. Also? She can create a bubble of compressed air, having done this in Julian’s ear drum which made him dizzy. She could also theoretically suck the air out from certain locations but that’s never occurred to her before.

Ooooh, that's just like Tris! (One of Daja's foster-sisters, who has weather magic)

But I imagine they'd find the eavesdropping very useful.
