This guy here is Dearka Elsman. Look at him. Just look at him. ~~After I finish making icons.~~ Would you be able to tell he's the most awesome background character you've ever seen in an anime? Probably not but he really is. And he's like BFF with Yzak but that's not really all that important because DEARKA, man.

Oh yeah, he used to pilot a Gundam but then they had this treaty that said "Unless you're Lacus Clyne, you can't have Gundams" so now he pilots a ZAKU.

I also need to tell you the important information. I'm almost always available SOMEWHERE so feel free to hit me up on AIM at fruits ponchi or punch me on plurk (this is a common meme) right here.

In SEED, they have a huge fossil of a ~space whale~ that they found by Jupiter. In the new Gundam 00 movie . Spoilers so highlight if you want to read. B)

I wish! In SEED Destiny, they just tried to get in touch with their roots so all the grunt units are modernized Zakus....with backpacks. Gundam SEED is all about backpacks if you ever watch it. But there's a slight difference between UC Zakus (http://www.uniju.com/wiki/images/c/ce/Zaku2.jpg) and SEED Zakus (http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/seed-destiny/zgmf-1001m.jpg).

I couldn't resist highlighting. So did they make them interesting in the movie? Or were they treated as a generic bad guy coming in at the last 2/3's of the series (Z and Turn A, looking at you)

You were right about the backpacks! Not sure how I feel about them, although the thicker look and the longer fin head fin looks cool. And the shoulder shields 8D

I was personally a little disappointed with them until they finally managed to communicate with them. Then it was okay but quite cliche.

SEED was my first Gundam series so I'm partial for all the designs with this (http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/9439/gatx105e8nu.jpg) being my favorite Gundam design ever. Funk will agree with me on that. Outside of that, about every grunt suit from UC was remade in SEED Destiny. If you like that stuff, then it's a definite watch if you don't mind all the other craziness!

What kind of other craziness is in there? I do like retro nods to the past series, although I think I liked the more grounded ones myself. I think of the AUs I did see, I preferred Turn A, especially the first half before the Moon.

SEED's story is basically about the people on Earth and the genetically modified people living in Space Colonies are fighting a huge-ass war and the main character gets caught in the middle of it. You know, typical KID STUMBLES ON GUNDAM, GETS IN, AND IS AWESOME AT IT. The point of the series is to show that both sides are bad but it gets morphed into "The primary character, Kira Yamato, is always right and if you disagree with him, he'll use his big bad gundam to defeat you".

For the record, Dearka is a "bad guy" for about 3/4s of the series and then he gets redeemed. And then has about 20 minutes of screentime in the sequel.

Ha, I was about to say that plot line looks familiar. So basically Kira isn't like Amuro or Camille where they had their own problems, like Amuro being a bit of a brat and Camille being....Camille >>;

So I should buckle up for Dearka? 8D

Kira's problem was that he was a genetically modified person from the Space colonies on a warship piloting a Gundam for a bunch normal people in the Earth military. Also, his main foe in part series is his childhood BFF Athrun.

Kira also cries a lot. And lol, Camille.

Dearka is glued to Yzak and is the coolass snark machine of the SEED characters. B)

I'll have to take a look at it sometime and keep an eye out for Dearka and Yzak. I kind of would like to also go back and watch the past stuff, I think 8D
