THE DEBUT OF THE DARKSOUL LJ

Soon, I'll be aiming for the 14th or 15th, Daimon's darksoul will be let loose. It'll be going around possessing people, only to be forced out or leaves voluntarily as a brigade of exorcists chase after it and try to get it back in Daimon's body.

If you want your character to be possessed by the darksoul OR to help out exorcising people and then sealing the darksoul away forever until the next Daimon plot, please let me know! Questions welcome.

What's Daimon's darksoul? It's a demon soul. It is pure evil and very, very violent. Fortunately, Stacy will recognize the situation for what it is, and no violations will be given to anyone possessed.

How would this cause characters to act/feel? At first, the person is totally against it and fights back, and so it IS like being possessed. But the longer the darksoul stays in control the more that real person is subsumed and perhaps even start to enjoy it. At this point, the darksoul starts being affected by the person's history. So if the host is pissed off at character Y the darksoul will start to feel that and might even track them down to hurt them. While you can fight the darksoul, eventually (sooner rather than later), they will be corrupted and will be lashing out and everyone and everything. Hitting on people can also happen, though Daimon's darksoul is more violent than lustful.

If you volunteer I'll be sending you more information. I'll give a brief run down of Daimon's darksoul personality, because it doesn't completely go away. But it will mostly be you writing your character as evil and with Daimon's powers (which are rather strong even though he's nerfed).

Please note that because I don't intend for this to be a big plot and want it to run over a week, if there are a lot of volunteers I might not be able to get all of you possessed. Sadly, I am not legion.

Edit: It's important to note that if your character is powerful on his/her own, I'd advise that you NOT volunteer them. Because the darksoul is super powered and will take a lot to contain. I don't want any murders and HUGE chaos to happen. I promised it wouldn't be game wide.

And derp, I forgot. Magical/demon fighting characters wanted for the exorcism. It's pretty dangerous otherwise.

I'm willing to throw Kanaya into the potential-possession pile. She may be a bit too powerful for it, since she just spent the last chunk of her life chainsawing various monsters to death, but, you know, thirteen-year-old with racial tendencies towards callous violence and some unresolved emotional issues? Awesome possession fodder, clearly.

It depends on her inherent power and skill set. If she depends on using tools and weapons like chainsaws, and it takes a good deal of effort to kill things then she's fine. If, however, she's got innate powers that she can use to zap things from a distance or really knows how to use a pitchfork trident then there might be problems.

Her powers are a bit vague in canon; it's implied she may have some, but if she does, they haven't been stated beyond "accomplished chainsaw-wielder." She's probably okay, but given how many people you'll no doubt have volunteering (and that she's still newmeat), I'm okay with getting delayed or passed over.

He has a long, checkered history of resisting evil possessions and powers, though -- and he isn't mad at anyone on the ship. My actual plan for him would be for him, in the first stages of possession, to swap all his memorized spells for much, much less useful things. Then as the darksoul comes further into play, it finds itself with access not to fireballs and lightning bolts, but spells that create temporary houses for him to stay in. There'd be small amounts of inflicted damage from, like, wands and cleverly-used spells, but nothing devastating.

Alright, I think that will work. The history of resisting possession would be what does it. Though the darksoul is violent to everyone, it's just that loved ones or people the person is mad at provide a nice target.

I may be a little late for this, but honestly, Kai's already violent enough that he doesn't need to be possessed. However, can people without magical/exorcism abilities fight it? If so, he'd be so up for pounding the crap out of a super powerful magical entity and wouldn't have any qualms about fighting someone possessed by it.

If Kai has pretty strong powers or is able to use tactics to keep from getting hit too bad. The problem is the darksoul is pretty dang powerful as is, but if I don't get too many more volunteers for the exorcism group then I'll open it up to people without powers and we can just figure out a way they don't get badly hurt.

Blah. I need to take more time before replying to stuff when I wake up. Having said that stuff above, helping out in individual cases is totally fine as in a reaction to "oh hey locally someone is flipping out let's do something" or "you're picking on me, stfu demon possessed shit!" My concern is more for the continuing chase thing, especially toward the end when the darksoul will just flip out.

The only problem is that Kanaya did bring her basic chainsaw with her (well, lipstick-chainsaw -- it's complicated). That's a potential problem.

... I realize it sounds like I'm trying to talk myself out of the plot / talk you out of including me in it, but I'm really not; it sounds awesome. I'm just trying to make sure this is all workable!

Nah, I think it still works. Because the darksoul is able to summon the trident over to him, and he prefers working with his trident to any dumb chainsaw. So it'd end up discarded.
