I'd think that person could then approach the mods at that time, explain what happened, and be reinstated to the game. It's such an out there example to use as the rule, over saying, "this is our rule, if the unexpected happens, come let us know," which would be more broadly applicable. Then you don't lose that character -- especially not now, with the app cycle switch-up -- and there's got to be some working AU clause we can figure out if this does ever become a problem.
