Ah, I've read Blue Heaven by Takahashi! It was years ago, but it was a very striking manga. I didn't know that they all assisted for each other, though. Maybe I should read Dorohedoro after all, then. :|a

Dorohedoro is the best, it's a hyper-violent-romance-comedy-mindfuck-drama series with no real 'villain' until like volume 10

hayashida describes it as 'a dark song with a beat you can dance to' and that pretty much sums it up perfectly, if you ask me

of takahashi's stuff, i'd definitely recommend jiraishin (dark, character driven police/detective manga) and tetsuwan girl (historical fiction sports manga about an all women's baseball team in japan)

yes, his massive, imposing backgrounds are the best, so easy to get lost in them

Nngh. Then I guess I should hold off on Dorohedoro. I like to have my series go somewhere (preferably in less than ten volumes), and I'm not especially fond of 'mindfuck' series or gore. Especially after Lain. Ggghh.

I'll see how much time I have for the rest, though.

it does go somewhere, the fact that there's a lack of villain is more that the series makes you sympathize and relate heavily to BOTH sides of the ongoing conflict, even as they hack each other to pieces, so there's no real 'bad guy' for a long time

but yeah it IS gory as hell, SO, if that ain't your bag, can't recommend it

definitely hit up tetsuwan girl first, jiraishin is just... holy god is it ever long. GOOD, but LONG

I actually think Jiraishin sounds more interesting; I like detectives. But I'll keep it in mind.
