Exploration Plot and New Setting

Hey Folks, Saphie here. With permission of the mods, I'm organizing the addition of new settings for the exploration plot this month for the people who need to move to the Dreamwidth-side Trans_9 early. Since we're adding new ship locations to the overall game setting and not everyone has joined DW-side to the OOC comm yet, I figured it'd be best to discuss it on LJ still so everyone can see, so if you know someone who can't check into LJ for various reasons and wants to discuss it, please give them a heads up that this post is here and to let me know if they can't access the site. I can email the text of this post to them and they can make suggestions over AIM to me so I can add them.

Blue and Ishfe are running the plot itself and I'm helping them organize on the plot-mod end since we have to get the new locations described and added to the wiki. Here's Blue's current writeup, with all the suggestions players made on the game discussion gathered:

Now it's discussion time! For all players, what new locations would you like to see? Alternately, do you have problems with any of the locations suggested or see ways to improve on them? Do any of you have questions about what things can be done by players and departments after the new bits of ship are opened up? Discuss here or grab me over AIM if you can't access LJ easily.

Actual plotting for the plot will happen on the Dreamwidth OOC. For those interested in the exploration plot, please sign up with your DW journals to this post, and then join trans_pilgrims over there.

That said, new locations can still be suggested to be added later. We just have to cap off the list so they can proceed with the plot and more will be added at a later time.

State of the Plot Post

It's the State of the Plot post, folks! This is hopefully going to be a regular thing. Since we want to help people that want to play around with the universe know what they can and can't play with, get feedback on the over-arching plot as we go, and give people ideas of what's upcoming, I'm going to be regularly communing with the mods to do periodic posts (probably once a month) to let you all know what's coming up in terms of the over-arching game plot and plotting in general and to see what you want to see coming up.

As the mods said here, they are aware of some of the complaints about the plot, and they are working to fix them. To add to the changes there:

How are you guys up for doing a TARDIS thread to get companions and Doctors introduced to each other? Also something for Doctors to group and argue about TARDIS ownership, etc, stuff like that? One of the Doctors or companions could probably call the meet-up on the omnicomms.

Hi, I'm Ben bringing Maria Balthasar from the old as dirt game Xenogears here.  She's a 13 year old with a 30 meter tall giant robot that she rides on the head of with no hand rails and has a bit of a revenge complex.  Other than that she's a very sweet girl, really.

Plot: Beyond the Sea

Attention, landlubbers: the undersea mystery/horror plot, Beyond the Sea, will begin on SATURDAY, JANUARY 7th. So if you've signed up for it, this post is for you!

Some notes:

• I have no problem with you frontdating posts past the plot.
• It will be about two weeks, after which everything is backtags.
• I encourage you to explore the station and its contents!
• If there is something specific you want to do, ask!
• Please help me NPC if you have time!

Background Information
The main locations for the plot will be as follows:

• The Saratoga, a large carrier craft and the launching point for the mission. It's a sturdy ship, but a little old, so no state-of-the-art technology. Still enough to get the job done, though! The crew will be briefed here.
• The Killifish, a submersible carriage designed to take everyone down to the station. It's not really a fighting ship, although it has some defensive capabilities; more like a transport craft that the crew can use, with some emergency supplies that clearly no one will need, like med kits and a comm system and emergency oxygen.
• Deepstar 7, the undersea station that requires investigating. It is comprised of several levels, including crew quarters, a medical station, a science lab, an airlock, and so on and so forth. All the basics. Some of these areas will be shuttered off at first, so the crew will have to gain access to them. The crew will be spending the most time in here.

I could use some help NPCing the following dudes:
KILLIFISH CREW

• Carriage pilot, K. Takagi: A private contractor who was rush-hired to man the Killifish, Takagi does have plenty of experience manning sea transports. But he's motivated by the pay and his own safety, not by the need to find out what happened to the station or the people there. He is an excellent pilot, though, so clearly you are in great hands. Taken by Lisa
• Mechanic, Lambert: Part of the secondary crew that was supposed to switch out the current shift of personnel manning the Deepstar 7. Lambert knows the basic blueprints of the station but has never been down there herself. She's familiar with the schematics of the Engineering section in particular, and she seems rather tense and a little snappish. Taken by Wingus
• Medic, Omar: One of the Saratoga's medics, shuffled into the team at the last minute in case of emergencies. He's never been part of a dive before, and is actually sort of claustrophobic and afraid of water. Taken by Blaze

DEEPSTAR 7

• Crewman #1: He's become a little unhinged by his long stay on the station, but he does know his way around. Which he will demonstrate by popping out of unlikely places and menacing people. And/or being apprehended, depending on how fast the crew is. Taken by Gaa
• Abel, Medical Officer: Also unhinged! He'll be lurking about, sabotaging the station and REDRUM. He'll show up more toward the end of the plot. Taken by Match
• Various Threatening Creatures: Sea life forms and giant squid and so on. If you would like to play a Threatening Creature, I'd appreciate it! I only have the giant squid definitely planned, so you can make up your own if you like. (Squid taken by Bill)
