I think Sam would be a great department head and that we could use all the medics we could get. The need is always there but there never seems to be enough active characters available to provide it.

Luis has been helping out with medical now and again because he has the knowledge of the human body to do so, but I feel bad getting him involved in more than an assistive role because he's already a department head (and not, in fact, medically trained aside from research.) He HAS been handling a lot of the virus/infection sorts of plots because that's his specialty and because Leon trusts him with them, but if there's a department head he trusts he will be more comfortable handing off information about specific crew members' treatments (Steve's, Sherry's and Jaime's whole Ohm tech thing, for starters.)
