Plotting Post: Melting Clock

Alright, now that Shore Leave's underway, it's time to start plotting out how the Melting Clock plot will really get into gear once Shore Leave's over.

This initial part is just for the affected characters (obviously), but also Medical, and other characters that might be involved in the investigation. But, because changes in the affected characters won't be noticed all at the same time (and affected characters won't realise that something's wrong with them themselves), so for the most part, this is left up to the individual players to plot what their character does specifically (you'll be able to do this in the next biweekly plotting post).

To give everyone an idea of what's going to be happening timelinewise, the planned breakdown of events is as follows:
  • Affected characters start showing signs of changes. Some of this may be written off as someone having an odd week, or being a little out of it. But some will be brought into medical by other people - exactly what happens with each person will depend on the character and what changes they show.
  • After enough people are brought into Medical, the guys there will connect the dots and realise that all these people are showing the same symptom - deaging. At this point, a Quarantine will be instigated, and the affected people in Medical will be taken to Contagion.
  • At this point, a search will start for anyone else affected. Anyone found to have the same symptoms will also be taken to Quarantine.
  • They'll also start trying to figure out what's wrong with the affected people - both by questioning them and by doing various medical-things. Eventually, they'll realise that the common thread is that they all heard the Melting Clock chime.
  • They'll ask Stacy about the Clock, and she'll tell them about it. At this point, since they'll know that it's not contagious, everyone in Contagion will be released, and Stacy will go back to XaXing to pick up the Clock.
  • After that, you're pretty much free to just play out whatever deaging shenanigans you like until the end of the plot. (Other characters will mostly spend this time trying to destroy the Clock)

Obviously, this isn't going to happen all at once. I'd estimate that it'll probably take around two-four weeks, depending on how long it takes for things to develop. But, it should give anyone playing an affected character idea of the timeline and let you plan accordingly (especially if there's a stage that do do/do not want them to go through while in Quarantine). Also there will probably a lot of various crazyness from deaging people throughout this as well.

For those people who aren't interested in playing out their character being discovered though, handwaving is an option - you can just tag straight into the Quarantine Log that will come later and assume they were found and brought in by someone.

What I do need today though is some volunteers for the characters who will get discovered before Quarantine is set up. They'll need to be brought to Medical within the first week, and unless they leave/escape beforehand they'll probably be in Contagion for all of Quarantine. They'll also need to have some threads where Medical personnel check them out. I need at least five characters for this, and no more than eight. If you're interested, reply to this thread.

I'll also need some volunteers for people who are going to assist with investigating this. Specifically, I'm going to need Medical staff (who can sign up here), and I'm going to need any other characters that can help out with Quarantine once it's set up, such as members of the Science Department (who can sign up here).
