That's understandable yeah. It'd likely be suggested that he at least take a pistol for those situations where close combat is inadvisable, but his skill in close combat and skill at stealth would likely be of great use. Whether in the case of scouting, or infiltrating and taking out targets before they know what hits them.

Could see to him getting some close range stuff in as well, if there's a particularly close combat oriented group/squad he could probably go well with them as well.
