Wiki Changes and New Game Mechanics
Saphie here, just a few notes on some changes. Several things have been added to the wiki.
Constitution
Thanks to Lisa's hard work, the Ship Constitution has been simplified and updated. Here. A provision on freedom of speech has been left out because the old one was contradictory and we'll be putting up a discussion on it with the playerbase within the next week or so. We don't want to swamp things by having too many polls and discussions up at once.
Beta Section
The locations from exploration plot are now on the wiki in an area called The Beta Section. It's linked to from the main setting page and ICly is accessible using either the usual tube system (which is a long trip) or the portal systems. You can now thread in these areas to your heart's content. If you have any questions, hit the mod email or one of us on AIM, and if you'd like to add anything to them, send an email to trans9plots@gmail.com
The Brig
The Brig finally has more description added.
"The brig has a large number of cells that are set up like your traditional jail cell. The walls and floors are smooth and white, and each has a bed that adjusts to the size of the occupant, a toilet area, and a place to wash up, For nonpowered individuals, they're in normal cells with impossible-to-break bars made of space-age compounds. Powered individuals have the same bars, but also an extra energy shield around their cells that can't be broken, as well as a power dampening field that nullifies any metahuman powers. All cells have locks that require voice, DNA scans, and retinal scans to open. The entire brig has shielding from the outside as well, to prevent breakouts. Whether or not prisoners are bunked together or allowed personal items is up to the jurisdiction of whoever's in charge of Security at that time. If personal items are allowed, there are scanners to let Security personnel to determine that the items don't have anything dangerous inside them or items that can be used for escape."
I'll be talking with Shard about what protocols are in place right now in terms of personal items allowed in cells and who's allowed to let people out and visitors and so on so they can be added to the wiki.
Therapist AI
As per a player suggestion, we have also added a new AI to the AI multiplex, known as The Therapist. Here at the bottom. This AI is an extension of Stacy herself in terms of personality engrams, but operates independently. As such, it can be npced by any player, no permission of the mods needed, using the meat_mooks npc account. The AI can change forms and is programmed in multiple techniques, and is allowed to prescribe medication. It has knowledge of the various cultures the crewmembers come from to have a good cultural perspective on them. When there are no therapist characters on board, psych evals can be handwaved as being handled by this program and when there are therapist characters on board, it can be used to take off some of the burden of those players since anyone can npc it and it can change to be whatever players want it to be.
And that's all for now. We'll keep updating you on changes to the game and new things as we work through them. There will probably be more posts from us later in the week on fixing up the departments and some things with the Constitution. If you notice anything needs updating or changing on the wiki or have any suggestions or complaints about anything, please contact us somehow, through email, AIM, or the suggestion post. Right now, we're cleaning house and trying to reorganize things, so it's a good time to hit us up.
