Mod Update

Last update for the night with an important change with setting and how we do plots.

Ship Constitution

We have to decided to keep the freedom of speech clause in the Constitution as is. If it is broken, it is an IC choice of the characters to break it rather than it not existing. It's been added to the Ship Constitution on the wiki.

Player Intro Process

For new players, we will be continuing to use the Big Brother/Big Sister system with players that volunteer to have their characters welcome newbies, and every two months we will have a meet n' greet mixer of sorts, with an accompanying OOC CR meme. These processes will start when apps open June 1st. Keep an eye out for more details closer to then.

Milk Runs

Due to player request, we have decided to add the option of what we're calling "milk runs" to give players more freedom in plotting and setting scenes. The process has been added to the World Dynamics page on the wiki under missions, which is linked to on the main wiki page.

Milk runs are much like missions in that they take place on planets but they are not handed down by Stacy, the Tapestry or the GIA. These are essentially small missions for things like food supplies, feed for ship animals, metal ingot, ammunition and parts for weapons, or components for engineering that give an excuse for players to be able to have threads on alien planets. Just keep in mind that they'd only be able to bring back a few hover-cart fulls of whatever they're getting and that powerful objects must be cleared by the mods. No briefing process is required and these milk runs can bypass the plot approval process entirely, with no mod approval necessary, so that players may simply set a thread on an alien world, handwaving the fact that Stacy stopped at it.

Plots can even happen on these worlds with characters getting pulled into local troubles, such as solving crimes, helping during natural disasters that occur during their time there, or having problems with the locals because of cultural differences. (A good example of how this all works is like an episode of Doctor Who--the TARDIS stops at a specific place for sightseeing but then the characters get pulled into adventures that are going on while visiting). The only time players need to put the milk run in as an actual mission for approval is when it pulls in the ship proper and involves a large number of people, would be a mission handed down by the GIA, Stacy, or the Tapestry, or involve forces like the Ohm, the Rom, the GIA, and the Daligig. Otherwise, players may have characters be on a planet getting supplies and swept up into plotty goings on with the locals with no mod approval at all. This is a way of doing plots or even single scenes in different settings without having to do briefings or having the mods have to approve them, and can provide new locales for players to place RP threads at, including canon universes (However, characters cannot go back to their own particular version of their universe because it is gone.)'

As usual, you can discuss any of these things or ask questions here, or contact the mods privately by AIM, plurk, email, or the suggestion post.
