Mod Update 5-20-12

A few mod announcements!

Big BroSis/IC Welcoming Committee

After looking at discussion and talking to some players, we've decided that the Big Brother Big Sister setup to help newbies will be the same as the IC Welcoming Committee. There will be weekly roundups of links to new character intros to draw attention from the big bros and sis's (and players in general) with a link to the list of big bros/sis's. Older players can go to the link and signup as a big bro or sis at any time. In the roundup posts themselves, players can claim someone so the other big bros and sis's know they're the ones ICly introducing the character to the setting and OOCly helping the person settle in. The List mod will update the volunteers as they come in and add them to the Departments page and do a post on the 1st of each month to check that everyone who signed up still wants to be there.

The list is HERE. You can start signing up now. Aside from being listed with every weekly roundup, it will also be on the sidebar and you can volunteer or ask to be taken off at any time.

New Podpop Process

Here is the new acceptance email:

Congratulations! You've been accepted to Trans9. If you haven't joined up with your journals to the comms, trans_9 and trans_pilgrims, do so now. If you think your character would use the Omnicom Channel journal system, please read this information and then join TransChannel. However, unlike the other two, this is entirely optional.

Feel free to introduce yourself on the OOC comm once your journal's approved. From there, you have a few options for intro-ing. All characters intro via podpop. That page explains the first few minutes of your character's life in the game. You may play this out if you wish: if possible, we'll try to match you to another new character who would also be interested in threading the process. If you're not interested or we can't find you a podpop partner, you can skip this step and make your first IC post after reading the in-character survival guide. Your character will learn this information upon receiving their omnicomm.

The AIM chat name is meatshiprules, and you're welcome to hang out there even before your character pops in. If you can't self-invite, IM one of the mods, and we'll pop you in!

Welcome aboard!

--The Trans9 Mods

As you can see, players can intro at any time, podpop itself is now handwaved, but the option to play it and be paired off with another player that wants to play it out is there if there's someone who'd like to at that time. Also the explanation of the situation is now handwaved by the IC Survival Guide autoplaying on their omnicoms.

New Mod/Mod Signups

With Zoki stepping down, we'd like to announce Anders as the newest member of the mod team. Thank you for all the hard work making the game fun over the years, Zoki, as both a mod and a player, and congratulations, Anders.

That said, we'd like a bit more of a buffer and a good floater mod to help out, so we would really, really like a fifth mod for the mod team if we can get one. If any helper mods or players are interested, we'd appreciate them sending us an email at transmigration9@gmail.com to let us know. All issues will still require the same number of mod votes for approval (currently we're at three when we're all able to be very active, two when some of us are busy) so this is just to add another potential voter/worker rather than increasing how many mods have to approve things.

Please let us know if you're interested.

Mod Posting Schedule

We also wanted the players to know what the mod posting schedule is so you're aware we have one now. If you notice us missing anything, please don't hesitate to crit us. When we do mod hat exchanges each month, we plan to essentially do a mod AC where we evaluate ourselves, each other, and look at any mod crit sent over the month to see if any mods need to step down or not.

Some of the posts might be a day or two off based on the mods' RL but they should fall within a few days around when they're scheduled.

• Game Discussions - Once a month, 2nd weekend (Discussion Mod)
• Mod Updates - Twice a month, 2nd and 4th weekend (Discussion Mod)
• Plot Discussions - Twice a month 1st and 3rd weekend (Over-arching Plot Mod)
• Activity Checks - every two months, third week of the month, up for seven days. One THREAD for every player every 2 months. For department heads/government characters, they must have an additional open post. Channel posts count, comment threads in other people's posts count. (List Mod) [May - July - September - November - January - March - May]
• IC Meet n' Greet and OOC Water Cooler - every two months, same time, after activity check (Over-arching Plot Mod)
• Department Signups - every two months, after AC, same time as IC Meet n' greet and watercooler. (List mod)
• Big Brosis Signups - Page is left up all the time and linked to in roundups. Updated when notifies come in. Periodic checks to see who still wants to be there 1st day of each month. (Listmod)
• Weekly Intro Roundup OOC posts (with link to Big Brosis list) - mid-week, Tues-Thurs, weekly (Delegation Mod)
• Mod Activity Checks - Beginning of the Month, during passing over of mod hats, everyone. (Self-eval, crit review, and letting each other know if there's activity problems).

Wiki Edits/Mod crit

The wiki has been updated to the best of our ability to be accurate and recent for setting stuff and the signups will be added after they're left up a bit longer. At this point, if anything is out of date, we've missed it altogether, so if you see anything that needs to be updated, please let us know.

We've also worked through all the most recent crit on the crit post and in the game discussions, as far as we're aware, so from this point forward, if there are any problems we need to be informed to know about them. Old issues like the mods communicating with the playerbase more and mod response times are ones we've tried our best to improve on since this incarnation of the mod team started. While the players are the best judge of whether or not we've been successful, we think we're fairly caught up and other than deciding on a new mod, running plots, and opening apps in June, there's not much we have left to do other than keeping to schedules.

So if there are any future problems or issues that need addressing (or any old ones we missed that are still an issue), please let us know through email, AIM, or the critpost, whatever method of contact is most comfortable for you.

As usual, if you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or complaints, you can contact us here, by email, by AIM, or on the critpost.
