Oh look, an intro!

Hi, I'm Ro (you can usually find me over at [livejournal.com profile] forgo), and this is Rondeau from a little series of urban fantasy novels by T.A. Pratt. He's a disembodied psychic parasite who likes bad suits BUT I'LL GET INTO THAT LATER. I look forward to playing here, it's a lot different from the other games I've been in. \o/

If you want to get in touch with me for whatever reason, I'm on AIM at r is for argyle.

Canon things about Rondeau and what he is and what he can do will probably go up in his journal at some point.

Right now, though, I have to go back to cleaning the house. ): Nice to meet you all!
Well since I, y'know, forgot to do this when I joined, I figure, better late than never.

*facepaaaaaaaalm*

I'm Ara, bringing you the ship's resident dog, Bandit from We3. He's from after he has his big 'is coat not we' moment, giving him a much more pronounced sense of self. As a lab mix, he likes long walks (beach optional), swimming, playing fetch, balls and games in general, being petted and scratched, and fetch. Lots of fetch. He doesn't like going to the vet, being bathed, perfume and cigarettes. His favorite foods are sausages, cheese, bacon, and anything potentially lethal or highly toxic. Also he eats everything. Everything.

He talks out of the implant on his head, giving his 'voice' a metallic, tinny feel. He does not actually have the capacity to speak, lacking quite a few of the vocal components to reproduce the sounds of human language.
The mods are going to change podpops now to do ALL of them by request only, whether you're a new or old player, and just will post a narrative thingy explaining the podpop process, getting clothes, and generally what Stacy tells them. Just 'cause it's easier. Means the monthly podpop can be done fairly quickly and emphasis is on the meeting/people explaining shit thread and then newbies can just get to threading. Also then with shortened podpops we can do plot the whole rest of the month.

How Podpops will work from now on:

1 -- Podpop. We have a narrative podpop written here that just gets reposted every time. Full pops will now be done by request only for everybody. (We're starting to get too many characters to do them even for every new person now, sorry folks D=). People post their character pod-popping just to signal they did and leave it there.

2 -- Meeting post. Newbies pop in and anyone can tag, but the IC Welcoming Committee and Command Staff will especially do so, explaining the sitch to the characters

3 -- Free-threading. As soon as a character gets the rundown, it can be assumed that their name and the skills they were willing to discuss are now known by the Command Crew. They can start just popping up posts and threading with anybody.

From now on, the "Newbie meeting" is it's own separate thing. There will now just be occasional Command Meetings (for commanders only), and shipwide "Town Hall" meetings (specifically for just discussing on-ship issues, so every thread is an item of discussion and there are no intros anymore, when needed. Rather than doing a ginormous meeting where they discuss EVERYTHING, which causes newbies to get lost and is a little too rapidfire, we're splitting it up to make them more manageable, and sporadic.

We're calling for three things to help with all this this.

1) More Mod Helpers -- these are people we might conscript to help run certain plots if they're available to do so. We keep them on an email list for mass emailing.

2) OOC Newbie Helpers -- People who we'll keep on a physical list for newbies to read that help guide newbies through the podpop process and just answer general questions about stuff that you pick up knowledge about from playing for a while. ("Does my character get their stuff?" "Do they get cleaned off?" etc) Obviously, you'd defer to mods if you didn't know an answer.

3) IC Welcoming Committee. We can handwave them volunteering ICly. We have Will and Wednesday for it. We need a few more. You'd help the Command staff during newbie meetings explain what's going onto the newbies and they'd basically be like IC census takers.

Our end goal is have podpops require not Stacy-npcing, last only a week, have a single newbie meeting right afterwards, have Command and "Town Hall" issues meetings only when necessary, and to be able to plot/play all the rest of the time.
