30th-Apr-2012 10:39 pm - IC Rebellion Planning
The Council now has a post up for IC planning of the rebellion:

HERE!

It is locked from Daligig eyes and the crew can make their IC rebellion plans openly.

The plan is the same as we decided in the poll. Which is the following:

7th-Feb-2012 12:10 pm - Council step-down and new position
As of this post in most recent Open Council post, Bight has voluntarily stepped down from his position as councilor as a reconciliatory action to show his good will to the crew. His step down brings the council down to five members remaining.

While he has stepped down from the council he has not stepped entirely out of council matters. With the approval of the council he has taken on a new position, that of an advisor to the council so that he may continue to use his knowledge to the benefit of Council and crew.

6th-Jan-2012 09:15 am - State of the Council
On behalf of the players behind the Councillors, I'd like to give the game a status update on where we stand with regards to the Council and recent voting.

At present, we have a 7-person Council: Dhianeila Y Leisha Altria Ol Yunos, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, Hogan Bight, Kang, Overlord Zetta, Rhiow, Vindicator Nehaalista. The recent run of voting was in favor of a five-person Council, putting us two over. Having discussed the issue and potential ways to lower our numbers, we've determined that the only absolutely and ultimately fair way would be to roll randomly... and we're not really comfortable with that. Understanding that we are ultimately responsible to the game and the vote, what we would like to do is allow the number to stay where it is for now, and allow the number to dwindle naturally. This has a few benefits: it forestalls any elections, which are as we all know a pain in the butt, until we drop below the five-person limit; it allows the reduction to occur naturally and for IC reasons rather than players having to concoct an explanation for being the unfortunate one who has to quit the position; and it hopefully leaves everyone with much less of a bad taste in their mouth than if someone was forced out of the position.

We recognize that in large part, a vote for a smaller Council is likely a vote for a more active Council. First, we admit that we have fallen down in this respect. We've vowed to do better. We also feel that how much we actually do may be a tad overstated! So please don't think we actually are having lengthy secret discussions and implementing ultimate master plans, because we're totally not. (And your characters, of course, can think whatever they want. ^.^ )

That all being said, we will be putting up an open Council meeting post this upcoming Monday. Feel free to assume there's an IC announcement to this effect, since it would be redundant to post it IC and OOC both... Issues for this meeting are, at present:

Bight is Crucible. What's up with that?
How soon do the laws go into effect after waking?
The appointment of Eva as a Project Planner for the ship.
PLEASE COME TO US WITH PROBLEMS WE'RE NOT PSYCHIC (i.e. the Council does its best to be open and accommodating but everyone always says they're secretive and impossible to approach, where are we not finding common ground here?)
Announcing the appointment of a new Chairperson.

Anything else your characters would've requested, stick it up here. Any questions for us players, here's where you ask!

25th-May-2011 11:20 pm - Hey everybody!
Shae here. :)

We've got a few announcements!

In the next couple of days, we're going to be tossing up an IC post with a few little changes to the setting, re: violations and GLaDOS.

We're also going to be tossing up a plot discussion post, as it's a bit overdue. And speaking of plots, the calendar has been updated.

We'd also like to remind you that we are sad pandas with only five mods, and we're still looking for anyone that would like to volunteer and be our sixth. All you need to do is send us an email, and we'll pick our new mod in one week's time.

And now...

IC ELECTIONS

We are short one Councilor, and just like last time, here's how it's going to work:

-Players will OOCly throw their characters into the race here, in this post.

-Said nominations will be ICly handwaved - over the next five days (until 11:59 PM EST on Monday, May 30th) you can ICly campaign, to try and convince the ship that you are awesome and deserve the seat. It is also highly encouraged to make OOC notes here, in this post, of what your character is doing to campaign so it's all in one spot and easy to find, even if they're doing things IC as well.

-Afterwards, there will be a poll on the main comm, open for three days (until 11:59 PM EST on Thursday, June 2nd), where characters will ICly vote for their choice.

-The top vote-getter for Council will be put, well, on the Council. Ties will be broken with second repeat polls.

Duties: The Council's job is to be in charge of day-to-day life. If it doesn't involve fighting the Ohm (or any other threats that need fighting); you make the rules. You can pass laws and appoint Department Heads if any step down or need to be replaced. Power is shared evenly among the members of the Council, although the Chairman helps ensure that things run smoothly and is in charge of making the final decision.

Current members:

Matt Olsen (Chairman)
Kang
Superman
Vindicator Nehaalista
Prince of all Cosmos
Overlord Zetta
Dhianeila Y Leisha Altria Ol Yunos
Rhiow

Positions on the Council will be very demanding both ICly and OOCly. Even if your character would be the Best Councilor Evar ICly, you need to be able to handle the additional time commitment OOCly.

We would also like to ask that you have the intention to keep your character as a Councilor, if they win, for at least two months IG time (roughly four months RL). These elections are fun, yes, but too many in too short a period of time IC and OOC gets to be a hassle that we'd like to avoid.

If you don't feel you can handle the responsibility or time commitment, please, please do not throw your character in the mix just because you think it would be OOC for them not to run. We cannot stress this enough.

Go forth, meatlings, and nominate your characters! As always, if you have any questions, just ask!

Shortly before podpop, Councillor Elfangor was determined to have been repodded. The vacancy, therefore, was filled by the next runner-up in the elections still willing to take the position.

Congratulations, meatship, a demon Overlord book is now on the Council.

This occurred a couple of days before podpop, so some of you may have wondered why Zetta hasn't said anything yet. The answer is simple: Alexander, God of Destruction, popped in that batch and he got completely distracted.

So though he hasn't launched the fireworks and attempted to steer the ship into a quasar yet, Zetta has the position, the relevant IC ship information has been updated, and the relevant people should be aware. ^.^

ELECTION TIME!

We are short four Council members, and in an effort to keep the campaigning and elections from dragging on for too long, (Marriage Planet will begin Saturday, February 5th, and we want a full Council by then) here's how it's going to work:

-Players will OOCly throw their characters into the race here, in this post.

-Said nominations will be ICly handwaved - over the next five days (until 11:59 PM EST on Tuesday, February 1st) you can ICly campaign, to try and convince the ship that you are awesome and should be in power. It is also highly encouraged to make OOC notes here, in this post, of what your character is doing to campaign so it's all in one spot and easy to find, even if they're doing things IC as well.

-Afterwards, there will be a poll on the main comm, open for three days (until 11:59 PM EST on Friday, February 4th), where characters will ICly vote for their choices.

-The top four vote-getters for Council will be put, well, on the Council. Ties will be broken with second repeat polls.

Duties: The Council's job is to be in charge of day-to-day life. If it doesn't involve fighting the Ohm (or any other threats that need fighting), you make the rules. You can pass laws and appoint Department Heads if any step down or need to be replaced. Power is shared evenly among the members of the Council, although the Chairman helps ensure that things run smoothly and is in charge of making the final decision.

3rd-Aug-2010 08:37 pm - PLOTTY THINGS!
Okay, guys. Here's a plot, and it's probably going to trigger some massive ship-wide arguments. I'd like to warn you about that first.

Here's the dealio. Mei-Xing has a clone on-ship. A medical clone. She's going to discover it soon-ish, anywhere from a few days to two weeks from now, idk. Anyway, this wouldn't be that noteworthy, except for the fact that Mei-Xing is going to let slip that she uses the clone for a fairly monstrous purpose.

You see, in Shadowrun, mages have very delicate bodily systems. A disruption could mean a loss in magical power for themselves. Major surgeries getting botched, too much foreign tissue, bioware implants, cyberware, all of that? Makes a permanent drop in their essence, which directly effects how much power they can bring to bear. So, in her world, Mei-Xing saved up for years and commissioned a clone, to lessen that risk for her. In basic English, her clone is there for spare parts.

At least two crewmates will have major problems with this, and the Council would likely have its first major decision. We can have some arguments going, maybe a punch or two thrown, and the fate of a clone decided by the crew.

What do you guys think?
27th-Jul-2010 08:24 pm - Hail to the Chief!
...that title would have been funnier if Master Chief actually ran, but I digress!

Anyway, the results of the election have been calculated, and here are the results!

Captain: Leon Kennedy

First Officer: Nathan Petrelli

Council:
-Kang
-Superman
-Luke Skywalker
-Chaucer
-Matt Olsen
-Leia Organa

8th-Jul-2010 02:58 pm - War games.
HEY EVERBODY. Thrawn's going to challenge the other Captain candidates to simulator naval battles to prove he wins at military forever. Which is the kind of thing that needs to be planned OOC, and probably hand-waved IC, because battle blow-by-blows are boring as hell to read and I don't know about the other players, but I suck at tactics.

So we need to work out who's going to beat whom, etc., and if indeed everyone's going to play IC. Since it's essentially a bunch of exhibition games, I suggest glossing over the exact mechanics except to say it's a round-robin.

Thrawn will absolutely cream anyone without wartime military command experience, but other than that, I don't know about everyone's canon, clearly, so that's why I'm putting this up, where we can work things out. (I do know that if Star Wars were a fighting game [let us never speak of Masters of Teras Kasi again], he'd be the end boss who combobreaks everything ever and blocks unblockables and so on, though. ;) zomg hax)

On an IC basis, I haven't quite decided how he's going about it yet--he'll probably have one of the Rogues get Luke to propose the idea, on the grounds that Luke leaves a sticky-sweet trail of goody-two-shoes wherever he goes, and it'll look impartial coming from him.

Last, I'mma go pick my threads back up in his sensoriums post. Wednesdays are a class night, and that squeezes out all my tasty brain juices so I have none left to play a sneaky super-genius with. ♥

Ok, meatshippers, now is the time to vote! Here is how this is going to work. The entire structure will be divided up into sections, and you vote Yay! or Nay! on each section. You can only vote on a section as whole, not line by line. The only exception to that is the newly added "property rights" section, which is open for editing. All sections that pass will be considered finalized, and will soon be moved to be voted on again, but in game this time, to be voted on ICly by the characters. Any section that doesn't will be reviewed, and put up for further editing by you, the players.
