TransPilgrims (TransMigration9: OOC)
August 30th, 2011
So I was thinking about how to make newbies feel more welcome in-game, and I had an idea.

How about a group of players already in the game that volunteer to help out? OOCly, they could help with a lot of soft gestures, like:
* Making sure newbie open posts don't sit around untagged.
* Volunteering to tag around in the podpop posts.
* Helping to create an index of newbie posts during podpop, pretty much like what Pixle did with the most recent meet and greet.

Additionally, how about a buddy system? People could volunteer themselves to help newbies:
* OOCly by contacting their newbie via AIM/Plurk/etc to say hi, answering basic questions
* ICly by offering up their characters to help them get a head start on CR.

I think the buddy thing would lend itself to more of a signup system, where a new player who's interested in having a buddy to talk to can be paired up with an older player who volunteers.

It's sort of like an OOC welcoming committee. Thoughts?

ETA: Okay, since a couple of people have expressed interest, let me get together a proposal email to give to the mods. I'll also work on a post we can put up for newbies around podpop, and run that by everyone for suggestions. AFAIK, everyone is good for helping at least one newb, right?

Hey kids, Al here! Going to Kumoricon this week so I'm putting up a pre-preemptive slowatus. I'll be posting but slowly.

For now, enjoy this music video.

As has been mentioned ICly, the Daligig will finally be making their first in-person introduction to the crew soon. This little write up here is to tell you how this will work and how this will affect the game, so if you're interested, please read on and pay attention.

ICly, the Daligig are sending over a small brigade lead by about a dozen or so actual Daligigs, along with a number of Kessek warriors (see below), all of which are there to oversee repairs performed by the Ghyyl (once again, see below for details). OOCly, they will only be around for about a month, and will not interfere with any private or public plots going on. They'll remain long enough for people to try and find out a few more things about the Daligig, but not long enough to get all the answers. Basically, this is just our way of finally giving some more answers (and, possibly, questions) about exactly who the crew's supposed saviors are.

As usual, direct answers will be hard to come by, but our more observant players might be able to glean some interesting info along the way.

If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please feel free to voice them here!
