Council and Constitution business

Thing One:
IC ELECTIONS
We are short one Councilor, and here's how it's going to work:
- Players will OOCly throw their characters into the race here, in this post.
- Said nominations will be ICly handwaved - over the next seven days (until 11:59 PM EST on Sunday, March 5th) you can ICly campaign, to try and convince the ship that you are awesome and deserve the seat. It is also highly encouraged to make OOC notes here, in this post, of what your character is doing to campaign so it's all in one spot and easy to find, even if they're doing things IC as well.
- Afterwards, there will be a poll on the main comm, open for five days (until 11:59 PM EST on Friday, March 9th), where characters will ICly vote for their choice.
- The top vote-getter for Council will be put, well, on the Council. Ties will be broken with second repeat polls.
- If we fall below five Councilors within four months' time OOCly, the character who got the second highest amount of votes will fill that position. The IC reasoning for it is that four months OOC is roughly two months IC, and that is a very short amount of time to be holding another election; plus, there are occasional GLaDOS nabbings and repoddings that the crew doesn't get any warning for. On that note - the ship Constitution is going to be updated to include this change.
Duties: The Council's job is to be in charge of day-to-day life. If it doesn't involve fighting the Ohm (or any other threats that need fighting); you make the rules. You can pass laws and appoint Department Heads if any step down or need to be replaced. Power is shared evenly among the members of the Council, although the Chairperson helps ensure that things run smoothly and is in charge of making the final decision in the case of ties.

Positions on the Council will be very demanding both ICly and OOCly. The plot's moving forward, and changes are going to be made with how the Council will handle things internally, their interactions with the crew, and their coordination with Command and the Department Heads. Even if your character would be the Best Councilor Evar ICly, you need to be able to handle the additional time commitment OOCly.
We would also like to ask that you have the intention to keep your character as a Councilor, if they win, for at least two months IG time (roughly four months RL). These elections are fun, yes, but too many in too short a period of time IC and OOC gets to be a hassle that we'd like to avoid.
If you don't feel you can handle the responsibility or time commitment, please, please do not throw your character in the mix just because you think it would be OOC for them not to run. We cannot stress this enough.
Now on to Thing Two:
Ship Constitution
The following people volunteered OOCly to help update/rewrite the ship Constitution in non-legalese:

The characters that were offered are Eva Salazar, Nathan Petrelli, and Tim Drake.
You're clear to go ahead and start working on this, and I'll help as much as I can as well. If there's anyone else that would like to offer assistance, please say so here!

Might have something more to go on later, but for now, just some kind of speech where he gives a brief overview of what he did at home and takes questions/discussion from anyone who wants them.

He'll be running on a basis of:
-Great experience in the fields of diplomacy and leadership, both from his past and his time as councilor,
-Putting forth the continued transparency he has pushed forward in his Advisory position.
-Attempting to improve relations and communications between Council and Crew, just as he had in his advisory position.
-Has the greater good of the crew in mind through his defense of it time and again (Lirath, Nasat, against Shodan) as well his willing step down.
He'll have a channel post up soon for running which I'll link in this thread.

* His governance of Merentha County on his homeworld of Erna, particularly the port town of Merentha
* Building the Jehanna region up from scratch

+ Acting commanding officer of the Black Hole Army (even though they were Not Very Nice people shhhhh).
+ Background in military leadership with a heavy emphasis on tactics and strategy.
+ He's been through some WARS okay
+ Hawke is a character who simply does very well in a leadership position.
He also might have...less-than-savory reasons for wanting a position of power (i.e. biding his time, rubbing elbows with important people and then possibly maybe trying to overthrow them). So that might be fun if people are interested. In that.

Lash's competence includes:
+ Being a Power Ranger which is proof that she's a good guy, otherwise she couldn't transform
+ Was a Commanding Officer in the Black Hole Army so she's good at making decisions
+ Has been in many wars
+ She's built a bunch of things on the ship and in her world that were helpful for the war effort
+ She can be the voice of a generation and put some afro into that council
+ She gets well with GLaDOS so she could speak with her efficiently!
+ Uh death rays are awesome.
