Participants in the tournament are currently as follows:
Maxim Cole Lina Simon Shoutarou Dr. McNinja Beastboy Ruffnut Naoto Lash Sonic Bight/Crucible Vadum Hit Girl Kaya Ronnae Ian Billy Crematia Talia Hana Erhart Mark Chance
24 participants! Good lord! (But in a good way!) Signups are still open, as well.
With this many people slotted up, those of you with multiple characters entered should expect to have one of your first battles be against another character, not an NPC. This way, I don't have to run 24 NPC battles on the first day. ^.^ If you have a preference of which of your characters is seeded against an NPC (and thus will make it past the first round at least), please let me know.
Also, I will cheerfully weight the brackets to make it more likely that you get a matchup you'd really like to see. (We already have one request for Bight/Crematia, for example). Just comment with who you'd like to match up, and how badly. Geneally, the worse you want it, the earlier it will be, just to make sure it happens.
If you are matched up against an NPC, I will assume the PC is victorious (because shonen fighting tournaments work like that), except in the case of three NPC combatants who will pose a serious threat. Of course, I will still play it out if you so desire. (On that note, I do still want more NPC helpers. :D )
If your character is eliminated, you will have other options to participate in the plot. For example, all the fights take place more or less simultaneously, so people who have been knocked out will have a chance to observe fights in progress and report back on them if they so choose.
The briefing will be posted on Monday. The first fights will begin on Wednesday, and the tournament matchups will be posted then at the latest. (I will try to have them up before then, but it all depends on how busy I am at work, Monday and Tuesday.) On Friday, the fight results will be announced and the next round will begin.
Remember: you don't have to do the entire fight in two days! We only need the results, which you and the player you're up against can agree on in very general terms. The actual battles should be given as much loving attention as you can! (And remember, you can use alternate means of logging, so long as you follow prose format so we can create a post out of it. :) ) I can't stress enough that I do not want people who are slow to feel like they are being left behind in terms of actual tagging. So long as you are checking in on the OOC aspects of things so we can keep this massive undertaking moving, your IC actions can be backtagged forever.
